Communications Analyst

Organization’s Mission
The mission of The Lustgarten Foundation is to advance the scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer.

Basic Function
Responsible for all Foundation communications including marketing and PR functions.

Responsibilities

  1. Research, write, edit and oversee production for all Foundation publications including the annual report, newsletters, direct mail campaigns, and Ask An Expert series and others.
  2. Oversee aspects of the creative process including gathering photos and artwork, reviewing and approving layout and design and proofreading.
  3. Development of content for Foundation website to keep information current and informative.
  4. Oversee social media communications
    1. Prepare a timeline for daily posts for Facebook and Twitter
    2. Create Facebook ads and Facebook Event tabs
    3. Monitor comments
    4. Write content for such programs as social media "Ask The Expert"
    5. Create and monitor individual Walk facebook pages and work with Walk leaders to keep content fresh
    6. Work on content for Twitter and Pinterest
  5. Work with events staff to create press releases.  Develop list for media placement for events/walks, along with placement in media outlets.
  6. Generate PR for local community events and work with PR firm on larger PR issues.
  7. Develop content for email communications/newsletter with pertinent updates to constituents
  8. Initiate the development of communications to market our program to constituents.
  9. Work with Cablevision communications team on the curePC awareness campaign.
  10. Update website news feed and monitor articles of interest.
  11. Participates in special projects and performs other duites as assigned.

Scope
Key person for all Foundation communications.

Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects from inception to completion.
Outstanding interviewing, researching, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Microsoft Office, with demonstrated skills in excel and word.
Stong organiztional skills and detail oriented.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adjust workload accordingly.
College degree in English, journalism or related field preferred.
3-5 years exxperience in writing and editing for newsletters, magazines or similar medium a plus.

Database Coordinator

Organization’s Mission
The mission of The Lustgarten Foundation is to advance the scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer.

Basic Function
Fundraising Operations including Foundation website and database.

Responsibilities

  1. Update website content and build event and donation pages for Walks and other events
  2. Create constituent communications including creating and adhering to time line for Walk emails, manipulating the data to create the email lists, create new email templates
  3. Fundraising Operations for Walks
    1. Design print material for Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk Series such as posters, save the dates, brouchers, t-shirts, starter kits
    2. Create Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk fundraising websites using Sphere
    3. Track and upload all sponsor logos to walk websites
    4. Support our walk participants with registration and navigating through their event headquarters
    5. Prepare registration lists, solicitor reports and team reports
  4. Work with a web tracking firm to ensure high rankings for google etc and increase visibility
  5. Process credit card donations/refunds
  6. Data entry for online donations
  7. Print donor letters
  8. Participates in special projects and perfoms other duties as assigned

Scope
Key person for database, website management.

Qualifications
Will need to learn Raisers Edge, Net Community, Sphere, Blackbaud Merchant Services – any prior experience a plus
Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, with demonstrated skills in excel and word. Basic knowledge of HTML. Knowledge of dreamweaver a plus.
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adjust workload accordingly
Excellent oral and written skills.
