Legal Assistance & Advocacy
A cancer advocate is anyone who is an objective source of reliable information to a cancer patient or family. Advocates can come in the form of family friends or relatives who help patients and their families obtain the most comprehensive and accurate information regarding their situation and treatment options, communicate with the many groups involved in cancer related treatments along side and occasionally on behalf of the patient.
There are also outside advocates who provide various cancer related services and information to assist cancer patients and their families. These services range from general education and information, guidance and support with healthcare decision-making, assistance with daily activities and health care procedures, health insurance counseling, being a liaison with medical providers, and other services. Additionally, these groups can help you resolve legal issues that may arise with regards to health insurance claims and cancer patient rights.
