Charity Navigator

4-StarsCharity Navigator is the largest charity evaluator in America and its website attracts more visitors than all other charity rating groups combined. The organization helps guide intelligent giving by evaluating the Financial Health and Accountability & Transparency of more than 8,000 charities. Charity Navigator, a 501 (c) (3), accepts no advertising or donations from the organizations it evaluates, ensuring unbiased evaluations, nor does it charge the public for this trusted data. The Lustgarten Foundation has received the coveted 4-star rating annually since 2009, placing the Foundation in the top 1% of nonprofits evaluated by Charity Navigator.

BBB Wise Giving Alliance Charity Seal Licensing Program

Accredited  The BBB Wise Giving Alliance has been evaluating charities since the 1920s. Today, the organization’s 20 BBB Standards for Charity Accountability addresses charity governance, finances, results reporting, transparency and accurate appeals. These standards serve as a basis for rigorous evaluations completed by an expert research staff. The Alliance produces about 1,500 reports on national publicly soliciting charities each year, based on public inquiries and/or charity requests. The BBB Accreditation seal provides a highly visible way for donors to gain confidence by understanding a nonprofit’s commitment to accountability. The Lustgarten Foundation has been evaluated since 2010 and has consistently achieved accreditation since 2018. Of the charities providing requested information, about 70% are found to meet all 20 BBB charity standards and 30% do not meet one or more of these standards.

GUIDESTAR

PlatinumGuideStar finds out where charities get their income, where they spend it and why it matters. Through research, collaboration and training, GuideStar connects people who want to change the world to the resources they need to do it. GuideStar does not actually rate organizations, instead offering organizations a platform to publish information and earn various “seals of transparency.” In 2019, Foundation Center and GuideStar joined forces to become Candid, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Candid’s data tools on nonprofits, foundations, and grants are the most comprehensive in the world. For a combined 88 years, Foundation Center and GuideStar each helped change the world by giving people the information they needed to do good.
