Lustgarten Foundation Announced Grant Programs to Inspire and Diversify Talent in Pancreatic Cancer Research

Two Grant Programs Now Accepting Request for Applications, through October 18, 2022 

WOODBURY, N.Y., Sept 26, 2022 — The Lustgarten Foundation announced that it is supporting two grant programs intended to inspire and diversify talent in pancreatic cancer research: Lustgarten Foundation-AACR Career Development Award for Pancreatic Cancer Research and Lustgarten Foundation-Swim Across America-AACR Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection Research Grant. 

“Research is fundamental at the Lustgarten Foundation, and we are dedicated to supporting innovative and breakthrough science,” said Linda Tantawi, Lustgarten Foundation CEO. “As the leader in pancreatic cancer research, we will continue to prioritize research that furthers our mission to transform pancreatic cancer into a curable disease.” 

The Lustgarten Foundation-AACR Career Development Award for Pancreatic Cancer Research is offered in honor of John Robert Lewis and Ruth Bader Ginsburg – both leaders who worked tirelessly for equality while battling pancreatic cancer. The grants will inspire and provide for the career development and advancement of under-represented and female scientists in pancreatic cancer research. The Lustgarten Foundation-Swim Across America-AACR Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection Research Grant, a joint effort to attract additional investigators to the field and support innovative research approaches to the early detection of pancreatic cancer while incentivizing investigators with a track record of success in other diseases to apply their talents to pancreatic cancer research. All grants provide $300,000 over three years for expenses related to the research project.  

“Pancreatic cancer is a particularly challenging disease, we know we need the best and most creative minds to take this on,” said Andrew Rakeman, PhD, vice president of research at the Lustgarten Foundation. “These awards will allow us to expand our top talent pool and advance projects that are critical to improving patient outcomes.”
