Lustgarten Foundation Appoints Two New Board Members

The Lustgarten Foundation announced today the appointment of two new board members – Dr. Kenneth Goodman and Ms. Willa Shalit – to its current 12-member Board of Directors. Dr. Goodman brings years of radiology and leadership experience to the role while Ms. Shalit has extensive expertise in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors and is the co-founder of Let’s Win, an affiliate organization of the Foundation.

Vizza, Ph.D., Executive Chairman of the Lustgarten Foundation board. “As the largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research, we rely on our board for their oversight and strategic direction as
we work to fulfill our mission of finding a cure for pancreatic cancer.”

Ken Goodman, M.D., F.A.C.R., has been the Director of the Department of Radiology and an Attending Physician at St. Francis Hospital since 1988. Prior to his tenure at St. Francis, Dr. Goodman served as Chief of Diagnostic Radiology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He was also the Chief of Uroradiology at Stony Brook, and an Attending Radiologist at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport, New York. Dr. Goodman is a graduate of The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, and trained in Diagnostic Radiology at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center where he completed a fellowship in Computed Tomography and Ultrasound.

Willa Shalit is an artist, author, social entrepreneur and philanthropist, with 35 years of experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. In 2015, Ms. Shalit co-founded Let’s Win, bringing science solutions for pancreatic cancer to the general public, in conjunction with the Lustgarten Foundation. She is a co-founder and principal of RTM Limited, a consulting firm serving clients in business, finance, healthcare, environmental services and philanthropy. An author of two books, her work has been the subject of an Emmy Award-winning PBS television special and has been reported by global media including The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, Marie Claire
magazine, and O, The Oprah Magazine.
