Research is fundamental. When the Lustgarten Foundation was founded, very little money was invested in pancreatic cancer research and there were virtually no long-term treatment options. In the intervening decades, the Lustgarten Foundation has been a leading force in every major advancement in pancreatic cancer research – your support has allowed us to forever change the landscape.
Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death in the United States and is projected to be the 2nd by 2030. While the survival rate has improved from 4% in 1998 to 13% in 2025, we are nowhere near where we need to be; and we are no less committed in our fight today than we were over 25 years ago.
This Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month (PCAM), we are forging ahead for more research, more hope, and more lives. Progress against pancreatic cancer doesn’t happen alone, it takes a united community of patients, families, researchers, and supporters pushing forward, even in the face of challenges. This month let’s stand united for a cure — because progress can’t wait.

We call on our community of supporters to spread the message that though our impact is profound, there is still much work to be done. As the nation’s largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research, we aren’t simply another voice in the dialogue calling for earlier detection and better therapies for pancreatic cancer, we started the conversation. We shine a spotlight on pancreatic cancer and do everything possible to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. And we do this by funding leading-edge research.
